Amanda Butz receives multiple dissertation research honors

Amanda Butz, research assistant for the lab, has been named one of 61 finalists for a National Academy of Education/Spencer Foundation dissertation fellowship. She was selected from over 400 applicants. Final decisions will be made in May. Amanda was also named recipient of a prestigious award from the 2014 Arvle and Ellen Turner Thacker Research Fund. This award will contribute $1,000 toward Amanda’s dissertation research. Her project is entitled, “Rural Appalachian Students’ Information Networks and Perceptions About College.”

Amanda was also accepted to the American Educational Research Association Division C’s professional seminar for doctoral students. This seminar is highly selective and will focus on helping doctoral students in the dissertation phase of their research make progress on their research and prepare for a career in academia.
